Exploring Affordable Housing Opportunities: News from Newark
An affordable residence in Lincoln Park, Newark developed by Ingerman Affordable Housing.
“A measure of our humanity is how we care for the ill among us. We should be proud of how we help at our four residences—and how the healthy and working join with the ill and disabled to build community.”
—Annette Bening, Trustee
Housing for arts professionals has been a part of The Actors Fund for more than 100 years. From the award winning Lillian Booth Actors Home in Englewood, New Jersey—first opened on Staten Island in 1902—to our three residences Manhattan, Brooklyn and West Hollywood, The Fund continues to “build community” by creating additional affordable and supportive housing for those working in the performing arts and entertainment.
Looking to the future, The Actors Fund and our Actors Fund Housing Development Corporation (AFHDC) are hard at work to find the next affordable artist housing opportunities, currently via a variety of projects in New York City, Los Angeles, Newark and Rahway, New Jersey.
Now the latest news is in from Newark. In a joint agreement with affordable housing developer The Ingerman Group, AFHDC is exploring developing a vacant piece of land in the Newark’s Lincoln Park neighborhood into a green residential building with a preference for artists. Read more on our Blog.
