Seniors Community Survey & Resources Directory

The results are in from the Seniors Community Survey (conducted in 2012 in partnership with Manhattan Plaza’s Rodney Kirk Center, Visiting Nurse Service of New York and Community Board 4). More than 1,100 people 60 and older living in New York City’s Clinton/Hell’s Kitchen and Chelsea neighborhoods responded, helping The Actors Fund to better understand the quality of life and needs of older New Yorkers including seniors in the performing arts. One result? A specialized directory of services available for seniors in these NYC neighborhoods. View these publications online in the new Special Reports section on our website or email info@actorsfund.org to request one of our limited copies.

Still Dreaming—Actors Home Residents in Shakespeare Doc

When award-winning filmmakers Hank Rogerson and Jilann Spitzmiller decided to spend part of summer 2011 at The Lillian Booth Actors Home documenting the rehearsal process for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, little did they know what a transformative experience it would be. The duo and its crew spent six weeks filming as the residents put together a production of Shakespeare’s romp with co-directors Ben Steinfeld and Noah Brody of NYC’s Fiasco Theater. The result, Still Dreaming, is a dynamic, entertaining and heartfelt documentary feature the duo is prepping for a 2014 release. Read more. Watch the trailer.

The Fund could not help the creative community in the many ways it does without BC/EFA’s support and the support of the entire Broadway community. Visit www.broadwaycares.org to learn more.
