Provides emergency financial assistance, emergency transportation and disaster relief and victim services. This website allows users to search for local councils offering assistance.

State of Alabama Emergency Management Agency

Alabama's Emergency Management Agency is an excellent resource for finding the latest information on the current state of tornado recovery.

Stay Healthy, Louisiana: Emergency Preparedness

This site provides tips on avoiding breathing contaminated air, finding safe drinking water, and staying safe in flooded areas. There is also a list of medical special needs shelter hotlines (activated only immediately before a storm), with information on eligibility for their use.

The American Institute for Conservation: Disaster Response and Recovery

Provides advice and assistance post-disaster regarding issues with historic and artistic works.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency's mission is to ensure that Mississippi is prepared to respond to emergencies, recover from them, and mitigate against their impacts. The MEMA website provides information and planning to both the public and the emergency management community.

Vermont Emergency Management empowers local communities through disaster preparedness programs, guidance and technical assistance. Their home page currently covers the latest news about the recovery from Tropical Storm Irene and links to assistance giving organzations.


Lawyers Alliance: Disaster Relief

Helps nonprofits provide critical social services and emergency funds to people affected by terrorism, natural disasters, and other tragedies. They provide immediate assistance through telephone consultations, emergency trainings, and outreach to help nonprofits keep pace with emerging legal issues.

RxResponse displays pharmacies that are open in a disaster area, as well as the closest Red Cross shelter.
