Musicians' Assistance Program - Local 802

Program Description

This service is provided by Local 802 for its members and their families. The program is administered and professionally staffed by The Actors Fund.  The Musicians’ Assistance Program (MAP) goal is to provide the support that will help Local 802 members to perform with the highest artistry and productivity, while minimizing any interruption to their work. All of MAP’s services are strictly confidential and are free of charge.

Services include:
  • Professional consultation and referral for personal, career, family and relationship problems.
  • Crisis intervention and short-term counseling.
  • Support groups that address the concerns of working musicians.
  • Early identification, referral, and comprehensive follow up for alcohol and/or drug dependence.
  • Referrals on behalf of eligible members for emergency financial assistance from Local 802’s Emergency Relief Fund (ERF) and other organizations committed to helping musicians in need.
  • Advocacy and referrals for legal aid, affordable health insurance, health services, housing, and public entitlements, such as Social Security, public assistance, and Medicaid.

Eligibility

All members of Local 802 and their families are eligible to receive these services. To be   eligible for financial assistance from Local 802’s Emergency Relief Fund (ERF) you must be:

  • a current member in good standing and
  • a member for a minimum of two years or
  • a pensioner.

Regardless of whether a member meets the ERF eligibility, the MAP will help members to apply for financial assistance from other organizations.

The MAP office is located on the 6th floor of Local 802's main office, 322 West 48th Street New York City.  Office hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
