HOW TO APPLY FOR EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE | Actors Fund

HOW TO APPLY FOR EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

To help our community during this public health crisis The Actors Fund has partnered with other entertainment industry organizations to provide emergency financial assistance to those in immediate financial need. Funds are available to union and non-union workers in entertainment and the performing arts. Remember, you may be eligible for more than one fund.

THREE STEPS TO APPLY

1. CONFIRM YOUR FINANCIAL NEED

Emergency financial assistance is available for people who are unable to pay basic living expenses (food/housing/health care) for the next two months. If you have the resources to pay your essential bills during that period, please wait to apply. You will be asked to submit your most recent checking and savings statements.

2. REVIEW YOUR ELIGIBILITY

Check the requirements below for all unions, guilds or employers that apply to you. Union and non-union workers may apply directly to The Actors Fund.

Film and Television Workers in Southern California: (Actors Fund and MPTF Applicants)

The Actors Fund and Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF) have received generous COVID-19 funding from IATSE, Netflix and SAG-IACF to assist film and television workers. If you live in Southern California, you can apply to only one of these two organizations so together we may help as many people as possible.

By applying to The Actors Fund today, you are confirming that you have not applied to or received assistance from MPTF, and understand that a false representation could affect your ability to receive assistance from both organizations in the future. You are authorizing The Actors Fund and MPTF to share applicant names to coordinate grants to COVID-19 applicants.

Tips On Making Your Applications Process Easier

Pepare all documents prior to filling out the online application. Applicants will be required to upload all documents at the end of the online application.

If any documents are not already available electronically, here are some suggested steps to create a digital file.

  1. Search the app store for Evernote Scannable and download it to your phone. This is a free app. There are other similar apps that are available to create electronic files. Please use what works for you.
  2. Open the app and scan documents to create PDF files.
  3. You will need to create PDF files for each of these categories:
    1. 1 file including five years (2015-2019) entertainment industry earnings.
    2. 1 file for last month’s bank statement.
    3. 1 file for current lease, rent, mortgage or maintenance statement. If none of these are not available, provide a government issued identification.
