American Society of Journalists and Authors - Writers Emergency Assistance Fund

Helps established freelance writers across the country who, because of advanced age, illness, disability, a natural disaster, or an extraordinary professional crisis are unable to work.

Carnegie Fund for Authors

Offers aid to authors who have suffered a financial emergency as a result of illness or injury to self, spouse or dependent child, or for some other misfortune that has placed the applicant in pressing need. Applicants must have had at least one book published commercially that has received reader acceptance. PEN Writers' Emergency Fund

An emergency fund for professional, published or produced writers in acute, emergency financial crisis.

Poets Emergency Fund

Assists poets of demonstrated ability who are in a state of urgent financial need. Recipients do not apply; rather, they are nominated by Academy Chancellors, fellows, and prize winners, who send a letter of nomination, including specifics about the nominee's current financial situation, to the Executive Director of the Academy, Academy of American Poets, 75 Maiden Lane, Suite 901, New York, NY 10038.

Poets in Need

Provides emergency assistance to poets who have an established presence in the literary community as innovators in the field and have a substantive body of published work.

Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America Emergency Medical Fund

Offers interest-free loans to members facing unexpected medical expenses.

The Authors League Fund

Helps professional writers and dramatists in financial need as a result of medical or health-related problems, temporary loss of income or other misfortune. The Fund gives open-ended, interest-free, no-strings-attached loans.

The PEN Fund for Writers and Editors with HIV/AIDS

Provides grants of up to $2,000 to professional writers and editors who face serious financial difficulties because of HIV or AIDS-related illness.

Music

ASCAP Loans

Offers its members emergency interest-bearing loans on royalties and advances based on earnings.

Blues Foundation Handy Artists Relief Trust Fund

Provides financial assistance to Blues musicians in need (and their families) due to a broad range of health concerns. The HART Fund provides for acute, chronic and preventive medical and dental care as well as funeral expenses. Grants generally range between $250 and $1,500.

Gospel Music Trust Fund

Provides financial assistance in the event of an emergency or major catastrophe, terminal or severe illness, to individuals who have derived a substantial portion of their income from the field of Gospel music.

Grand Ole Opry Trust Fund

Any person who has been employed full time in the country music industry may be eligible for financial aid from The Opry Trust Fund.

Jazz Foundation of America - Jazz Musicians Emergency Fund

Offers aid to elder jazz and blues musicians in crisis.

Marshall and Mary Brondum Special Assistance Foundation

Offers financial assistance to folk musicians.

Motown/Universal Music Group Fund

Provides grants for assistance to R&B recording artists formerly affiliated with Universal Music Group and any of its labels, to ensure that artists in need have access to financial resources for health, welfare and medical needs.
