Do you work in performing arts or entertainment, and need help understanding and enrolling in health insurance?
The Actors Fund’s Artists Health Insurance Resource Center (AHIRC) knows about healthy artists. We’ve been connecting people who work in the arts around the country to health insurance and affordable health care since 1998. With the changing insurance landscape, it’s more important than ever to get unbiased information on all your options.
From November 1, 2019 to January 31, 2020, the Affordable Care Act will be in the “open enrollment” period. These 12 weeks offer the only opportunity (with some exceptions) for people in the performing arts and entertainment industry to enroll in or renew their health insurance, to stay healthy and creative. If you signed up for a Qualified Health Plan, the Essential Plan or Medicaid on the Marketplace last year, your coverage may be coming up for renewal. If you haven't signed up for insurance, now is the time to do it! You can enroll in coverage, make changes in your level of coverage or insurer, and make changes to your estimated income.
Please note that the above dates are for New York residents only. For residents of most other states, the Open Enrollment period is November 1–December 15, 2019. For California residents, the period is October 15, 2019–January 31, 2020. If you live in California, please visit Entertainment Health Insurance Solutions for information on their counseling and enrollment services
