Arts in Education | Foundations in Curriculum Design (NYC)
A successful educational program requires a structured curriculum. A curriculum is defined as the philosophy, goals, objectives, learning-experiences, instructional-resources and assessments specific to the educational setting and goals. For Teaching Artists, a curriculum is the map used to govern what is taught, how it’s taught and how these lessons support learning.
As a result of this 9-session course, Teaching Artists will be better equipped to:
- Develop a process of assessing an educational need and designing programing to meet it
- Define core elements of curriculum development and lesson planning
- Incorporate effective activities and learning aids to reinforce their goals
- Meet the learning outcomes of educators and organizations in need of their services
