Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Orientation - Spring 2022
The Actors Fund is offering an online 8-week Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) course for those in the performing arts and entertainment, 50+, living in New York. This 8 week group offers participants an opportunity to develop skills for reducing the feelings of stress and anxiety in life, and to meet the challenges of these times with greater calm, clarity and joy. This will include teaching participants mindful meditation techniques, as well as integrating cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) insights. Group participants will develop skills in mindful awareness - calming the body, quieting the mind and bringing balance to emotions.
MBCT Orientation Session 1 - March 24, 2022, 10–11:15 am ET
MBCT Orientation Session 2 - March 31, 2022, 10–11:15 am ET
MBCT Group - 8 weeks, Thursday mornings, April 7–May 28, 2022, 10 am–12 pm ET, with the opportunity to join a full Day of Meditation on Saturday, May 14, 2022, 10 am–4 pm ET.
Prerequisites: You are required to attend one of the two orientation sessions and a brief one-on-one interview. The orientation provides an in-depth look at the course, offers an introduction to mindfulness meditation and will answer questions you might have about how mindfulness might be of value to you. A commitment to attend all 8-weeks is required. Please note that interview times are limited. As per NY licensing requirements, participants in this group must also be residents of New York.

Technology Requirements: To participate in this course, you will need access a computer with speakers, microphone and video capabilities; a high-speed internet connection and Zoom (a free video conference application).
After registering, you will receive a Zoom confirmation email with a link to join us for the orientation. At the end of the orientation, we will offer 1-on-1 interview appointments to those interested in joining the 8-week group. Please note: a commitment to attend all 8-weeks is required and interviews times are limited. We look forward to seeing you at orientation.
