Orientation for Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course (EDT)

Join an Orientation session for The Actors Fund’s upcoming free online 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction courses for those in the performing arts and entertainment. MBSR uses meditation, gentle yoga, and inquiry as a way of training people to relate differently to stresses in their lives. It was originally developed for patients in chronic pain and has since been shown to be beneficial for dealing with stress, anxiety, and depression. 

These MBSR orientation sessions will provide an in-depth look at the course, give an introduction to mindfulness meditation, and go over a short questionnaire about how you think MBSR can best serve you.

Attending an Orientation session is the only prerequisite for taking one of the full courses. 
After completing the orientation and a brief 1-on-1 online interview, you may attend either the Tuesday or Thursday 8-week course:

Tuesday Session
Tuesday, September 15  from 7 pm-9:30 pm ET and ending Tuesday, November 3 with an All-Day Retreat on Saturday, October 24, 10 am-5 pm ET

Thursday Session
Thursday September 17 from 9:30 am -Noon ET and ending Thursday, November 5 with an All-Day Retreat on Saturday, October 24, 10 am-5 pm ET

Technology Requirements
To participate in this course, you will need access to the following: 

  • a computer with speakers, microphone, and video capabilities;
  • a high-speed internet connection (tablets, phones, and Chromebooks are not recommended due to a reduced participant and group experience);
  • Zoom (free video conference application).
